Class Animation Reflection

Copy and paste this onto your blog, then answer the questions. MAKE SURE TO LOG OUT OF YOUR HILLIARDSCHOOLS.ORG ACCOUNT BEFORE YOU LOG INTO BLOGGER!

Describe a challenge (or set of challenges) you faced in planning for your sequence.

In Planning my sequence, i wasn't really sure what to animate, as i felt my audio clip was somewhat obscure. Additionally, i wasn't completely sure how to do a green screen effect instead of a magazine picture as my background.

How did you meet the challenge?

I met my first challenge by sitting around the room while pondering what to do, when i stumbled upon the exacto-knife! I then found a great appreciation for this animation technique, and will probably use it again in another short film. My second challenge was met by asking you for help, and upon my request, you showed me how to apply a green screen effect to films.

Describe your rationale for animating what you animated, and for using the method (stop frame vs cut paper vs handdrawn vs rotoscope etc) you chose.

My rationale for animating what i did was because i felt that the cut out paper dancing around showed how Adam would make fun of the cow. I chose the cut out paper technique randomly, but quickly fell in love with it. It is a match made in origami

What was the best part of the project? The worst?

The best part of this project was the interest i have acquired for getting an exacto knife and exploring the options that i can create through this technique. The worst part of the project is the film's frame per second rate could have been improved, i realized this only after i saw Nick Jerger's but now my cut paper films will be better as a result of this.

Protagonist vs. Antagonist Story Board

Internal Conflict: To do it, or not to do it (weed)

Characters: Protagonist/Antagonist. Other character who is tempting Protag/Antag to do “the thing”

Main character is offered to smoke, but he has personal conflicts with smoking weed. Then he says “Uh, I have to do something really quick, can I let you know in a little bit?” He asks to the tempting character.

“Yeah, sure man. Just let me know soon!” Then leaves.

Main character leaves, and enters another room. Suddenly there is another character who says “Come on, you have to do it! Cut loose brotha man!”

Main character looks up and sees himself! Surprised he says, “What the-? NO! I can’t, if I got caught I would be so screwed! My coaches, my mom, my girlfriend! They would all kill me!”

Evil self, “They would never know, you’ll be fine man. Come on.”

Good conscious “I said NO. Dude, stop.”

“Don’t be such a wimp.” Evil conscious says as he pushes good conscious.

“No. And don’t push me, Meanie Head!”

They proceed to get into a fight and then they roll off a table and one gets up. But it is unknown who it is and he leaves. He goes up to the character who offered him weed. Smiles and says “No.” And pushes him into a trashcan. Then he leaves and gets hit by a car due to bad karma from pushing the kid into a trashcan.

Protagonist vs. Antagonist Brainstorming Writing

Protagonist vs. Antagonist Brainstorm Writing

Copy and paste this onto your blog. (command C, command V)

You will write details about six characters; three antagonists, three protagonists.

Begin with one character, a protagonist. Write down their name. Write their current desires and motivations in life. Write down their childhood/backstory. These are the most important pieces.

Now write down their physical description, physical quirks, personality flaws. This is secondary to the motivation and backstory. It’s the icing on the cake, and it’s still important.

Now write that character’s nemesis using the exact same process (desires, backstory, physical ing onionsand personality quirks, etc). Think about why and how they are blocking the protagonist from achieving their goal. Is it malicious? Accidental?

Repeat this with two other sets of characters.

NOTE: You do not have to use all or any of these characters for your video if you don’t want to. It is an exercise to get you thinking about character building. On the other hand, this may trigger some brilliant thought that leads to a wonderful video project. You won’t know unless you put your heart and head into it.

Protagonist:

Joe Jackson- Always wanted to be famous, hates the world and himself. Tried to drink away his sorrows and regrets but was allergic to alcohol. Hates himself, tried to cut himself, but gets woozy at the sight of blood and can only ever give himself paper cuts. Has a mental issue in which he thinks he is a dragon that breathes fiery bubbles. Was found on his foster mothers doorstep but by the age of thirteen he knew they weren't related because he was black and she was korean... Ran away and was found by the police in a dumpster. When asked what was wrong and if anything bad had happened to him he replied "kalhflihfihnfkfjheiwjekn!!!!!" and ran off yelling "I'm on fire!!!! I'm on fire! 'Ello govna!" Cray Cray..... Bustin's childhood friend and still his closest friend.

Antagonist:

Ivan (unknown)- Russian former Spetnaz, a soldier bred from birth. He was a super soldier, came out of his mother's womb three months earlier than expected because he wanted to. Society doesn't know what to do with him, so they employ him as a soldier. He is the only soldier in the Russian Spetnez Black Arm army because he's all they need. Always wanted to be a soldier, has a secret love for flowers and dancing. He is also a closeted gay and tells his victims this right before he kills them. Turns into a serial killer when the Russian Army sends him to the U.S. to be an insurgent. Works for Bustin as a security contractor, and remains unsuspected of killing anyone.

Protagonist:

Bustin Jowers- A funny entrepreneur in the world of technology, created the Pear products, "similar to Apple, but it's not." That's their slogan. Has a keen sense of business and humor. To get to the top he had done many things he is proud of, but others wouldn't be. He always wanted to be a dancer though. His childhood was always a crazy one, in which he consistently fought with his imaginary puppy named Corey. His mother sent him to a mental institution "but with the help of corey and this pear I escaped." He was actually holding a rusty knife, but no one wanted to tell him, for obvious reasons. Best friends with Joe.

Antagonist:

Krystal Ball- Stripper, doesn't want to be. She is only doing it to pay for college. Southern born and now lives in Wyoming. She is visiting Bustin as h was her first real boyfriend, and thinks she is in love. Kind of white trash. Always wanted to be a surgeon. Wants to kill Joe because he is F@*&#&G crazy! Wants Bustin to leave with her and go back to Wyoming. Starts to stop loving Bustin, and starts loving Ivan and only wants Bustin's money.

Protagonist:

Ben Dover- Another friend of Bustin's. Was in the army but was kicked out because he "asked and told." Was a supreme sniper though. Found out that Krystal loves Ivan and is just using Bustin. Plans to kill her. Has a habit of revealing his thoughts allowed and accidently tells Krystal "I'm going to kill you." Wants to be a sniper forever. Slightly maniacal and a psychopath because he quite enjoys killing his targets by shooting them in the legs, arms, then the right side of the chest and then the mouth. Very messed up childhood, always gave his mom dead animals as a gift.

Antagonist:

Mike Hawk- A contract killing assassin and best friends with Ivan. Hired by Krystal to take Ben Dover out, because Krystal tells him that Ben is plotting to kill Bustin and Ivan. Kills people using knives because it's more fun. As a child he was always a happy boy, until his sister was raped and killed along with his parents. When Mike found them he vowed revenge and hunted down the killer and slit his throat with the same knife that his sister was killed with. Ever since his first kill at the age of twelve, he couldn't stop. But he needed money and so he became a hit-man. Has a uncontrollable need to always have a tulip with him.

Special Place Reaction

Copy this document and paste it into your Blog. Use <command C> and <command V> to copy and paste. :)

What was the place you tried to portray?
The place i tired to portray was a series of memories in my life. It was me and my deceased father watching movies together when he was still alive. He always sat in the same chair whenever we watched movies and tv shows, so that is what i filmed. The chair and myself with a background narration.

What details did you choose to portray about this place?
I portrayed the chair, my reactions, and a background narration. This was to tell my story and my memories.

What changes did you make to your plan along the way? That is, how did your pre-production plan change when you filmed, and what new discoveries did you make in post-production?
During filming i only took several shots, that was it, and i did not look at them to see how they turned out. As a result, my face was not able to be seen in any of the reaction shots. So the next day i went home and re filmed it all, but in production, i liked how my face was unable to be seen until the last shot, because i couldn't find myself in reality.

Name at least one change (or more) you would like to make to your film. Why?
I would like to change some of the audio and visual errors and screw-ups. This would make the entire video a little "cleaner."

What is Creativity?

Creativity can be described as so many things. It is the term used to classify the special thing that people use to express themselves. It can be shown in the form of art, literature, or even the way you look. A person can choose to express themselves in a way that is not the society's norm, and by doing so, are expressing their creativeness.

The expression of creativity in art work is very obvious, as every part of it is the creativity of the artist. They are expressing their feelings, their views, and themselves into what they create! Hense, creat-ivity!

Literature also takes creativity to compose. The Author doesn't just jot down random jibberish, they think deeply or write about themselves and what has happened to them in their life. They are expressing how they might feel, such as a satire expresses the sarcastic views on a topic. Expression is, perhaps a synonym for creativity, because if you express yourself, you are showing the world your creativeness, even if it may only be miniscule.

The way you present yourself into society is also a form of creativity, because they way you dress gives  people a look into the way you feel. For example, if you dress in dark clothes with lots of chains and rainbow hair, your being creative with how you look and expressing that you want to be different... or a serial killer. Either way, your'e expressing yourself in some way.

Creativity is not, however, just putting on something different to wear, to look at, or to simulate self expression, because it wouldn't be true creativity. It would be, rather, the copying of how other people express themselves and show THEIR creativity. You need to find out a way to express yourself, not how to simulate others creativity to call it your own.

Creativity is the art of expression and can never be faked or copied, because it is unique to each and every individual.
